Melaye Critiques Tinubu's Fundraising Appointment

Dino Melaye, a former Kogi West lawmaker, accused President Bola Tinubu of desperation for appointing Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), as Deputy Director of Fundraising for his 2027 presidential campaign. In an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Melaye stated he would challenge this appointment in court, emphasizing that it violates public service rules and creates a conflict of interest.

He criticized the appointment as indicative of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Tinubu's "I don’t care" attitude, asserting that Nigeria is not a "banana republic." Melaye suggested that Adedeji's appointment was intended to facilitate fundraising for Tinubu's re-election. He also mentioned that the President's recent suspension of the fundraising list was a response to public outcry regarding the appointment, which he deemed unacceptable and corrupt.
