Campaigns for Nigeria's 2027 Elections Officially Begin

The campaigns for Nigeria's presidential and National Assembly elections officially commenced on January 16, 2027, with President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking a second term. He faces competition from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

The campaign period, lasting 150 days, is expected to foster a national dialogue on the country's future, emphasizing the need for candidates to present clear, actionable policies rather than resorting to hate speech or divisive tactics.
