APC Finalizes Campaign Council Ahead of 2026 Elections

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares to officially open presidential and National Assembly campaigns on August 19, 2026, major political parties such as the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) are intensifying their internal consultations to finalize campaign structures. The APC is currently assessing candidates for the role of Director-General (DG) of President Bola Tinubu’s campaign council.

Prominent figures being considered include Senator Tanko Al-Makura, the former Governor of Nasarawa State, who has received endorsements from the APC Integrity Group. Hope Uzodinmma, the Imo State Governor and current Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, is also a leading contender, with his selection potentially aimed at enhancing the administration's message of inclusiveness.

Additionally, former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari is mentioned as a candidate. The final list for the campaign council is expected to be compiled by the Presidency, with speculation that it may be released before the campaign ban is lifted.
