ADC Calls for Credible 2027 Elections with IRI Support

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of National Chairman Senator David Mark, has advocated for a transparent, inclusive, and credible 2027 general election. During a meeting in Abuja with a delegation from the International Republican Institute (IRI), Mark emphasized that the credibility of the elections is non-negotiable and must be free from manipulation, intimidation, and abuse of state institutions.

He expressed concern over the recent violence and intimidation during the Osun State governorship election, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 30 individuals. Mark stated that elections should not be treated as warfare but as a democratic process for citizens to choose their leaders.

He called for a secure environment for political parties and candidates to participate in elections, ensuring that every vote counts. Mark believes that an independent assessment by organizations like IRI could help identify weaknesses in Nigeria's electoral system ahead of the 2027 elections.
