NDC to Contest 2027 Elections Despite Court Ruling

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared its intention to be on the ballot for the 2027 general elections, despite a ruling from the Federal High Court in Lokoja that set aside an earlier judgment regarding the party's registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The court, presided over by Justice Isah Dashen, ruled on December 10, 2025, that the previous judgment was constitutionally defective as it was delivered without hearing the interests of the parties involved, rendering the entire process null and void.

The NDC's national chairman, Mose Cleopa Zuwogh, expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling and indicated that the party would file an appeal. The NDC aims to continue its political activities, including membership registration and participation in upcoming elections, despite the court's decision.

The party also criticized the Peace Movement Party (PMP) for attempting to challenge its registration status, asserting that it would seek legal remedies within the statutory period.
