Kwankwaso Predicts Disappointment for Reelection-Seeking Governors

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential running mate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, expressed concerns regarding the upcoming 2027 elections, predicting that many state governors seeking re-election will be disappointed. During an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, Kwankwaso stated that the electorate is becoming increasingly politically aware and may reject governors despite their control over state structures.

He cautioned against electoral manipulation and emphasized that dissatisfaction with issues such as insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and declining public services could significantly influence voters' decisions. Kwankwaso noted that some governors, who have failed to address their constituents' concerns, are defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress, believing that this move will secure their re-election.

He asserted that the political landscape is shifting, and the traditional reliance on party machinery may no longer guarantee electoral success.
