Wike Rejects APC Governors' Opposition to Rainbow Coalition

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has rejected the opposition from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum regarding the proposed Rainbow Coalition. In an interview with Arise News, Wike stated that supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027 does not necessitate members of the coalition abandoning their political parties or refraining from fielding candidates for other elections.

He emphasized that his support for Tinubu is based on his belief in the President's performance and the need to return power to the South. Wike cited examples from Imo State, where the governor supported Tinubu but the APC performed poorly in the presidential election while winning legislative seats.

He also referenced Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who supports Tinubu while belonging to the APGA, questioning whether this support would hinder APGA from presenting candidates for other elections. Wike maintained that his support for Tinubu is not an attempt to undermine the APC and is a public declaration of his commitment.
