Fayose: Wike's Coalition Won't Hurt Tinubu's 2027 Bid

Ayo Fayose, a former Governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, commented on the ongoing dispute regarding Nyesom Wike's Rainbow Coalition, asserting that it will not negatively impact President Bola Tinubu's chances in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking on Channels Television on September 15, Fayose emphasized that the critical factor is whether the coalition can deliver votes for Tinubu, rather than which political faction is prevailing.

He remarked that the tensions between Wike and the APC governors stem from personal political interests rather than a genuine threat to Tinubu's re-election. The Progressive Governors Forum, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, recently distanced itself from any political arrangements that could undermine APC candidates.

Wike clarified that the Rainbow Coalition is intended to unite politicians in support of Tinubu's presidential bid, not to rival the APC. Fayose noted that the coalition's effectiveness would vary by state and that Wike has not indicated support for candidates beyond the presidential race.
