Falcons to Compete Against Sudan or Comoros in 2028 Qualifiers

The Nigerian women's national football team, known as the Falcons, is set to face either Sudan or Comoros in the qualifiers for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The Confederation of African Football conducted the qualification draw in Cairo on Wednesday, outlining the route for Nigeria, a recognized powerhouse in African women's football.

Nigeria will begin its campaign against the winner of the preliminary fixture between Sudan and Comoros, with a total of 35 nations involved in the qualification process. The competition will consist of five knockout rounds, with two slots available for African teams at the Olympic Games.

The six lowest-ranked teams, including Sudan and Comoros, will compete in the opening round scheduled for June 2026. The winners will advance to face top-ranked teams like Nigeria, South Africa, and Ghana in the second round, scheduled for October 5-13, 2026.

Nigeria aims to maintain its status among Africa's elite, having previously participated in the Olympics in Sydney (2000), Athens (2004), Beijing (2008), and Paris (2024).
