23 Foreign Nationals Arrested in Ogun Ponzi Scheme Raid

The Ogun State Police Command arrested 23 foreign nationals in Onipanu-Ota for alleged involvement in a Ponzi scheme, visa scam, and other immigration-related offences. The arrests occurred last Tuesday at approximately 11 am during a raid by operatives from the Atan-Ota Division, following credible intelligence about fraudulent activities at a gated residential building.

The police secured the premises and apprehended the suspects for further investigation. During the operation, a Malian international passport belonging to Diakite Alfousseini was recovered.

Preliminary investigations led to the handover of 21 suspects to the Nigeria Immigration Service on August 5 for further action. The police retained two suspects for prosecution on charges of Obtaining by False Pretence and related offences, pending the conclusion of the investigation.

Ongoing investigations aim to establish the circumstances of the alleged fraudulent activities and identify additional individuals connected to the scheme.
