Amotekun Corps Arrests 21 Illegal Immigrants in Ondo

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, arrested 53 suspects, including 21 undocumented foreign nationals, in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area. The arrests occurred on a Monday and were part of a crackdown on various criminal activities, including kidnapping and cultism.

Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the state commander of the corps, stated that the foreigners were apprehended following intelligence from the Fulani community. The suspects claimed to have entered Nigeria from neighboring West African countries for menial jobs and phone repairs but lacked documentation for their stay.

Adeleye expressed concerns over the increasing number of foreigners in the state, noting that many were living under false pretenses. He warned that undocumented immigrants abandoned by their sponsors could become involved in criminal activities.

The 21 foreigners are being handed over to the appropriate government agency for further investigation and necessary action.
