23 Foreign Nationals Arrested in Ogun Visa Scam

On August 4, 2023, at approximately 11 am, the Ogun State Police Command conducted a raid on a residential building in Ota, resulting in the arrest of 23 foreign nationals linked to an alleged Ponzi scheme and visa scam. The operation was initiated following credible intelligence regarding suspected fraudulent activities at the location.

The police secured the premises and apprehended the suspects for further investigation. Following preliminary investigations, 21 of the suspects were transferred to the Nigeria Immigration Service on August 5 for additional immigration-related inquiries and appropriate actions.

Meanwhile, two suspects were retained by the police for prosecution related to Obtaining by False Pretence (OBT) and other associated offences, pending the conclusion of the investigation. The police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the fraudulent activities and to identify any additional individuals involved.
