Nigerian Army Lieutenant Killed in Oyo Rescue Operation

Lieutenant Felix Adem Isaac, a 28-year-old officer in the Nigerian Army, was killed during a rescue operation in Oyo State on July 10, 2026. The operation aimed to rescue 44 abducted students and teachers from the Oriire Local Government Area.

Isaac was born on August 25, 1997, and was laid to rest with full military honors at the 23rd Armour Brigade Cemetery in Yola, Adamawa State. Reports indicate that his convoy was struck by an explosive device set by the Ansaru terrorist group, which was identified as responsible for the abduction.

Although Isaac was not directly involved in the rescue operation that ultimately did not yield results, the Nigerian Army had previously issued a statement regarding the careful planning of the operation to ensure the safety of the victims. The operation involved ten security agencies and was led by Major General Chinedu Ralph Nnebeif, the General Officer Commanding the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army.
