FG to Train 300 Corps Members as CNG Technicians

The Federal Government announced that 300 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members will be trained and certified as compressed natural gas (CNG) technicians, with placements at various CNG conversion centres across Nigeria. Dr Titilope Gbadamosi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, made this announcement during the CNG Retrofitting Training Programme's opening ceremony at the NYSC FCT Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to retrofit 100,000 vehicles annually, following the removal of fuel subsidies in 2023. The National Automotive and Development Council (NADD) is providing technical authority and funding for this effort.

Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande emphasized the program's potential to create job opportunities and enhance entrepreneurship for corps members. NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu stated that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and has trained over three million corps members in various skills since 2012.
