Federal Government Enhances Vocational Training in Nigeria

The Federal Government has equipped 38 federal and state technical colleges across Nigeria with modern facilities to enhance access to free vocational training, supported by the World Bank. This initiative aims to provide young Nigerians with practical, market-driven skills and resources for self-employment.
Mrs Blessing Ehi Ogwu, National Project Coordinator of the Innovation Development for Effective Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project, announced this during an inspection at the Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Orozo, Abuja. The initiative includes investments in infrastructure and equipment to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
Participants will receive monthly stipends and business starter packs upon graduation. Mr Olatunji Odewunmi, National Project Monitoring Officer at the Federal Ministry of Education, emphasized that the program is free, covering tuition and essential requirements, including accommodation.
Biometric attendance monitoring has been introduced to ensure discipline among trainees.
