40 Youths in Cross River Renounce Cult Membership

Approximately 40 youths from the Abini community in the Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State have renounced their affiliations with various cults, including the Vikings, Klans, and Axemen. This commitment was made during a sensitization and engagement program organized by the Cross River State Police Command in collaboration with the Abini Elites Association and the LauraHope Foundation.

The event was attended by community leaders, security agencies, and civil society representatives, who praised the youths for their decision to abandon cultism. The ex-cultists publicly denounced their former groups, signed peace undertakings, and apologized to their communities, pledging to promote peace and discourage their peers from joining illegal groups.

Community leader Ukam Uno emphasized the importance of supporting these youths with skills acquisition to prevent them from returning to cultism. The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, stated that this initiative is part of the proactive crime prevention strategy of Commissioner of Police Ajo Geoffrey Ordue.
