Five Herders Killed in Plateau State Attack, Curfew Imposed

On Sunday evening, five herders—Buhari Yusuf, Aminu Ahmad, Nasiru Abdullahi, Gambo Abubakar, and Muhammad Abdul Rahman—were killed in Kassa community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State. The victims were attacked while transporting cattle from Bokkos to Jos South in a J5 vehicle around 3 PM.

Gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, resulting in the deaths of the herders and their cattle. Two other occupants sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.

The following day, the deceased were buried in the Muslim Cemetery in Bokkos. Lt. Cl.

Luke Adejo, the sector commander of Operation Enduring Peace in Bokkos, condemned the attack and urged the herding community to remain calm and avoid retaliation. Additionally, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the MACBAN state Chairman, condemned the incident and called for an investigation by security forces to hold those responsible accountable.
