Seven Charged in Gombe Baby Trafficking Case

Seven individuals are currently facing trial for their involvement in baby trafficking in Gombe State, as reported by Aminu Shira, the Gombe State Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). In an interview with journalists, Shira stated that the agency is intensifying its efforts to dismantle trafficking networks and bring perpetrators to justice.

Investigations have revealed that some healthcare workers and officials within the social welfare system allegedly collaborated with traffickers to facilitate the illegal sale and movement of babies. NAPTIP has increased its intelligence gathering, investigations, arrests, and prosecutions as part of its ongoing campaign against child trafficking and other forms of human trafficking in the state.

Shira emphasized that the agency will continue to collaborate closely with other security and law enforcement agencies to ensure that all individuals involved in this illicit trade are apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
