NAPTIP Convicts Two for Human Trafficking in Gombe State

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has reported the conviction and sentencing of two individuals for offenses related to human trafficking in Gombe State. Additionally, seven suspects are currently facing trial for alleged baby trafficking and other human trafficking-related crimes.

Aminu Shira, the Gombe State Commander of NAPTIP, stated in an interview that the agency is intensifying its investigations and prosecutions against those involved in trafficking activities. He expressed concern over the involvement of some healthcare workers and social welfare officials who are allegedly collaborating with traffickers to facilitate the illegal sale and movement of babies.

Shira highlighted the agency's efforts to strengthen intelligence gathering and surveillance in vulnerable communities and institutions. NAPTIP is collaborating with security and law enforcement agencies to identify trafficking networks and ensure that perpetrators face justice.

He urged community members to report suspicious activities and emphasized the importance of vigilance among parents and guardians regarding child care and adoption.
