Rivers South-East By-Election Results Rejected by Candidates

Candidates from the Action Alliance and Labour Party have rejected the results of the Rivers South-East senatorial by-election held on Saturday. They allege widespread irregularities and have threatened to challenge the results in court.

Douglas Fabek, the Action Alliance candidate, accused officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security personnel of manipulating the election process. He stated that fake INEC result sheets were circulated and vowed to pursue legal action.

The Labour Party candidate, Kinani Sam, also rejected the outcome, claiming the process was compromised, with allegations of electoral supervisors using secretariats' vehicles to manipulate results. INEC declared Olaka Nwogu of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner with 47,961 votes.

Geraldine Ekelemu, INEC's spokesperson in Rivers State, dismissed the allegations but acknowledged that candidates have the right to seek legal redress. The candidates demand that INEC cancel the results, citing significant failures in the electoral process.
