ASUU at Ambrose Alli University Begins Indefinite Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, has called for an indefinite strike beginning August 25, 2026, due to the delay in implementing the 2025 Federal Government of Nigeria–Academic Staff Union of Universities (FGN–ASUU) Agreement. The union's leadership, represented by Chairman Dr. Cyril Oziegbe Onogbosele and Secretary Dr. William Odion, stated that previous attempts to engage with university authorities and the Edo State Government have been ignored.

They issued a strict deadline for the implementation of salary adjustments and the disbursement of financial arrears. The university management clarified that the strike is not due to salary payment failures, asserting their commitment to meeting salary obligations with the support of the Edo State Government, led by Senator Monday Okpebholo.

The strike follows a 14-day notice that expired on August 24, 2026, as directed by the national leadership of ASUU.
