AAUA Students Protest 68 Days Over Prolonged Strike

On Thursday, students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, protested by barricading major roads for the 68th consecutive day due to a prolonged strike that has halted academic activities. The protest, organized by the Students’ Union Government (SUG), involved blocking the university's main gate and roads connecting to the major highway.

Protesters carried placards with messages demanding an immediate resolution to the strike and the reopening of the university. SUG President Folagbade Greatness Ayoola stated that students could no longer remain silent as the strike disrupts their academic plans, highlighting the challenges of paying school fees while lecturers are unpaid.

He criticized the lack of concrete resolutions despite repeated assurances from authorities. General Secretary Oluwatimileyin Amos emphasized the uncertainty and hardship faced by students, particularly those nearing graduation.

The Students’ Senate President Adebiyi Kehinde also expressed the need for immediate action to resolve the ongoing strike.
