AAUA Students Demand Action on ASUU Strike in 72 Hours

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Ondo State Government to take decisive action to resolve the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The strike has lasted for 14 days, leading to a complete halt of academic activities at the institution, disrupting the academic calendar, and causing uncertainty for thousands of students.

Many undergraduates have left campus due to the lack of a clear timeline for the resolution, while those remaining face emotional, psychological, and financial hardships. The SUG, led by President Folagbade Greatness and General Secretary Amos Oluwatimileyin, described the situation as unacceptable and emphasized the need for immediate intervention from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

They expressed that the ongoing strike erodes confidence in the education system and imposes additional financial burdens on families. The union believes that the issues can be resolved through sincere dialogue and commitment from the government.
