Abba Tajudeen on Hybrid Result Transmission in Elections

Abba Tajudeen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, addressed the inclusion of both electronic and manual transmissions in the Electoral Act during a courtesy call with Spain's Ambassador to Nigeria, Felix Costal. He emphasized that this hybrid approach aims to avoid disenfranchising Nigerian voters and to combat voter apathy as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

Tajudeen noted that Nigeria's internet penetration is inadequate, with nearly 40% of the country lacking coverage, which could hinder the effectiveness of electronic result transmission. He stated that while the country is making efforts to embrace electronic systems, the reality of internet service instability means that manual arrangements will still be necessary.

Tajudeen also highlighted the importance of continuous improvement in Nigeria's democracy and expressed hope for technical support from Spain to enhance legislative processes.
