FUTO Students Abducted During Bank Manager's Killing Released

The Federal University of Technology, Owerri, confirmed the release of two female students who were abducted during the violent incident involving the killing of Mr Ossy, a branch manager of Polaris Bank, on Sunday. The university's Public Relations Officer, Orakwe Ezugwu, announced their release in a statement on Friday, indicating that the students are currently receiving medical care and psychological support at the University Medical Centre.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Ikechukwu Dozie has visited the students to interact with them. The university management commended the Nigerian Police and other security agencies for their prompt intervention in the situation.

The statement reassured the university community, including students, staff, and parents, that additional security measures are being implemented in collaboration with relevant security agencies. The university urged members of the community to remain calm, vigilant, and report any suspicious activities.

The incident occurred when Mr Ossy was gunned down by assailants as he attempted to resist being kidnapped while dropping off his children on campus.
