Tinubu Appoints Abel Enitan as New Civil Service Head

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026. Enitan succeeds Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is set to retire upon reaching the statutory retirement age of 60.

Enitan, from Osun State, is the most senior permanent secretary in the Federal Civil Service, having served for seven years and seven months across various ministries, including the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the Vice President. He is currently the permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education.

President Tinubu expressed gratitude to Mrs. Walson-Jack for her distinguished service and the reforms implemented during her tenure. He urged Enitan to build on existing reforms, enhance professionalism and efficiency, and lead a civil service that is accountable and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.

Enitan was born on December 12, 1966, and holds a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos and an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University.
