NDLEA Arrests Two Grandpas for Selling Drugs to Teens

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested two elderly men, Godfrei Orji, aged 84, and Godwin Obulunbiya Obiora, aged 75, for allegedly selling illicit drugs to teenage secondary school students in Umuahia, Abia State. The arrests occurred on June 18, 2023, following credible intelligence that led to the discovery of 64 kilograms of opioids, including tramadol and diazepam, during a search of their premises located at 4 Club Road, Umuahia.

The NDLEA stated that Orji, a pensioner, was supplying drugs to students at Saint Sila Secondary School in Umuahia. After their arrest, the two men were charged in court, and the students involved were referred for rehabilitation.

The NDLEA continues its operations against drug abuse across Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and education.
