ABSU Forms Search Team for New Vice Chancellor Appointment

Abia State University (ABSU) has officially inaugurated a six-member search team tasked with recruiting the institution's 9th substantive Vice Chancellor. The team was inaugurated by Dr.

Agwu U. Agwu, the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, on a Wednesday.

The search team, chaired by Professor Onwubiko Dike, includes members such as Professor Anthony Obik, Professor Mari Oluchi Iwuagwu, Professor Sam Agu, Dr. Osita Igb, and Dr.

Uchenna Kalu, who will serve as the secretary. The Pro Chancellor explained that the exercise aligns with Section 12 (2) (b) of the Abia State University Law, which mandates the identification and consideration of suitable candidates for the Vice Chancellor position.

The current Vice Chancellor, Professor Ndukw J. Okeudo, is set to complete his two-year term on November 1, 2024.

The search team is expected to conduct a thorough and transparent process to find a qualified academic leader capable of advancing the university's goals in the 21st century.
