SSU VC Appeals for More Lecturers to Expand Programs

On Saturday, during the combined 4th to 8th convocation ceremonies of Sokoto State University, Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Bello Yarima appealed to Governor Ahmadu Aliyu for the approval to recruit additional academic staff. This recruitment is essential to support the proposed expansion of academic programs and the establishment of new faculties, which would increase the number of faculties from five to nine.

The university, which commenced academic activities in 2011, currently has five faculties and has proposed 22 additional academic programs. Yarima emphasized that the increase in qualified academic staff is necessary to drive these new programs.

He also noted the establishment of a center for excellence in solid mineral research and the promotion of scientific research. Governor Aliyu reaffirmed his administration's commitment to education and pledged to support the university's growth, including addressing salary arrears and improving staff welfare.
