ABU and Chinese Varsity to Expand Double Degree Program

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and a Chinese university are set to revive and expand a 3+2 double degree program, allowing students to spend three years at ABU and two years at the Chinese institution. The program, initiated under the China-Africa cooperation framework, aims to enhance academic collaboration.

The first batch of 45 ABU students traveled to China in 2018, but the partnership was stalled in 2021 due to the pandemic. The institutions plan to not only revive the program but also include staff exchanges, joint research supervision, and broader academic collaboration.

ABU's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahm, described the initiative as a flagship model for engineering education in Nigeria, expressing gratitude for the support from the Chinese institution, led by CSU's Vice Chancellor, Li Zhihong.
