Fire at Abuja Filling Station Injures Three Firefighters

On Thursday night, a fire at the AYM Shafa filling station in Area 3 Garki, Abuja, resulted from an explosion of a petrol tanker filled with approximately 45,000 litres of petroleum product. The FCT Fire Service received the emergency call at 9:44 PM and mobilized personnel and equipment to the scene.

Due to the fire's magnitude, other fire service authorities joined in a coordinated response. Three firefighters sustained varying degrees of injuries, with one receiving intensive care at the Trauma Centre of the National Hospital, Abuja, while the other two were treated at Alliance Hospital in Area 11, Garki.

Preliminary assessments indicated that the fire damaged the filling station, 13 fuel dispensing pumps, two civilian vehicles, and parts of the Federal Revenue Service office, as well as sections of Ahmad Plaza. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the public is advised to refrain from speculation.

The FCT Fire Service commended the bravery of all emergency personnel involved.
