Ex-Driver Sentenced to Death for Abuja Couple's Murder

Jonathan Marcu, a former driver, was sentenced to death by the FCT High Court for the murder of 80-year-old Adebola Ezekiel and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel. The incident took place on April 1, 2024, at their residence in the Apo Legislative Quarter, Abuja.

Following the murder, the FCT Police Command conducted an extensive investigation that led to Marcu's arrest in Obajana, Kogi State, after he fled the scene. During interrogation, Marcu confessed to entering the victims' home around 11:00 PM on the day of the incident and killing the couple.

The investigation revealed that Marcu had previously worked for the couple but was dismissed due to repeated disagreements. The prosecution presented sufficient evidence linking Marcu to the crime, and Justice M.S.

Idri confirmed that the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt. The FCT Police Command stated that the judgment reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice for victims of crime and protecting lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory.
