Accord Party Rejects Imumolen's Support for APC Candidate

The Accord Party has dismissed the endorsement of Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, by Chris Imumolen, its expelled former 2023 presidential candidate. In a statement released on Thursday by the party's National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, it was asserted that Imumolen's support for Oyebamiji at an APC campaign rally in Osogbo indicates he is no longer affiliated with Accord.

The party labeled Imumolen a “political hireling and hustler” with no significant political structure to impact the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15. Accord emphasized that there is no faction within the party and criticized the use of the term “factional chairman” as misleading.

The party expressed confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke's victory, claiming Osun is a stronghold for Accord. Additionally, it accused the APC of resorting to violence and intimidation ahead of the election and called for neutrality from the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies.
