ACF Links Kano Massacre to Drug Abuse, Urges Community Policing and Youth Empowerment

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has attributed the brutal murder of children in Kano to drug abuse, stressing that such heinous acts are often influenced by substance abuse. Dr. Goni Umar Faruk, the ACF chairman in Kano, highlighted the importance of community policing and advocated for the regulation of arms purchases to enhance security measures. Additionally, the ACF announced the provision of interest-free loans to empower 1,000 youths by the end of June, aiming to reduce vulnerability to crime.

The incident, which occurred in the Dorayi Chiranchi quarter of Kano, has deeply affected residents, leading to a call for the reinforcement of family values and efforts to combat drug abuse. Binta Mukhtar Shata, the executive director of Muryar Matan Arewa, emphasized the need for justice and punishment for the perpetrators. Maryam Hassan, the Lespada executive secretary, highlighted the community's fear and the necessity of collective action, especially in addressing drug abuse issues.
