ACF Demands Probe into Threats Against Northern Women

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed concern over alleged threats of eviction against Northern women residing in Ondo State by operatives of the Amotekun Corps. In a statement issued by the forum's chairman, Bashir M.

Dalhatu, the ACF condemned the actions as discriminatory and unconstitutional, violating the rights of Nigerian citizens. The forum referenced a widely circulated video showing Amotekun operatives allegedly arresting women identified as Hausa-Fulani, claiming they were conducting lawful activities.

The ACF emphasized that the Nigerian Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to move freely and reside anywhere in the country without discrimination based on ethnicity or religion. They called on the Ondo State government to investigate the incidents and clarify the circumstances surrounding the actions of the Amotekun operatives.

The ACF also urged federal security agencies and the National Human Rights Commission to examine the matter to ensure constitutional rights are protected, stressing that no state security outfit has the legal authority to deport Nigerian citizens.
