ACTDA Demolishes Illegal Structures in Awka

The Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA) has intensified its enforcement operations by demolishing illegal structures in Awka. The enforcement exercise, conducted by the ACTDA Enforcement Team, targeted areas including Immigration Road off the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and Nibo off HRH Ezike Road.

During the operation, multiple violations were identified, such as construction under high tension power lines, destruction of government facilities, and illegal encroachment on access roads. One developer had previously received a stop-work notice for illegal construction but continued despite the warning, prompting the agency's action.

Dr. Ossy Onuko, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ACTDA, stated that the agency would not tolerate disorder and would remove any structure that violates planning laws or endangers lives.

The ACTDA urged developers to seek proper approvals before commencing projects and reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safe and orderly capital city.
