Fintiri Unveils ₦2.98bn Modern Market in Yola

On Tuesday, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri commissioned the reconstruction of the Modibo Adama Modern Market in Yola, which cost ₦2.98 billion. This project is part of efforts to boost commerce and increase the state's internal revenue.

The contract for the market's reconstruction was awarded last year to an indigenous construction company. During the commissioning, Fintiri emphasized the administration's commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people, particularly after a fire incident last year that destroyed the old market, resulting in five fatalities and injuring 180 individuals.

The new market comprises 936 shops, including 120 open stalls and 816 lock shops, and features modern amenities such as a reinforced perimeter fence, wider access roads, a fire service station, a comprehensive water reticulation system, and modern sanitation facilities. Fintiri noted that the project serves as a permanent solution to recurring fire incidents, aiming to improve safety and revitalize the livelihoods of traders in the area.
