ADC Benue State Rejects David Mark's Chairmanship

The Benue State executive committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the chairmanship led by David Mark, describing the emerging faction as illegitimate. The committee criticized the National Executive Committee (NEC) led by Mark for violating Section 82(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which requires a 21-day notice from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before convening a meeting.

During a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) house in Makurdi, the committee argued that the lack of proper authorization rendered the decisions made at the meeting invalid. They condemned the establishment of a membership registration and mobilization team, declaring the faction's structure unconstitutional.

The committee warned members to deal with the caretaker committee at their own risk and confirmed that the ADC in Benue State would not conduct any congress pending directives from INEC. Allegations of suspensions against several individuals, including Senator Emmanuel Yisa Orker and Hon.

Terngu Tsegba, were deemed unnecessary as they were not members of the party at that moment. The committee pledged loyalty to the duly elected state leadership, represented by Hon.

Elia Adikwu, and vowed to uphold the ADC constitution.
