ADC Chieftain Calls for Fairness in Kogi Ward Creation

Usman Okai, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure fairness and equitable representation in the ongoing creation of new electoral wards in Kogi State. In a statement issued on Friday, Okai emphasized that the exercise should adhere to established legal and administrative guidelines, considering factors such as population density and geographical landmass.

He highlighted the need for the ward-creation process to reflect the interests of all three senatorial districts, particularly Kogi East, which he noted is the most populous region with the largest landmass in the state. Okai urged INEC to act as an impartial institution, ensuring no district is disadvantaged.

He also appealed to stakeholders to support a transparent process that promotes unity and fairness. Okai called for a comprehensive review of the proposed ward-creation arrangement before implementation, stressing the importance of maintaining public confidence in the electoral process.
