ADC Will Not Contest 2026 Ekiti Election Results

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced on July 9, 2026, that it will not contest the results of the June 20, 2026, Ekiti governorship election. This decision was made during a meeting of the party's state executive committee in Ado Ekiti, presided over by state chairman Dr.

Bamidel Ekunola. The ADC has opted against pursuing legal action based on legal advice that indicated insufficient evidence to challenge the election results, prioritizing peace in Ekiti State as part of its long-term political strategy.

The party aims to focus on rebuilding its structure and engaging with grassroots members to strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 general elections. The ADC plans to establish several committees to develop a roadmap for grassroots mobilization and to identify and train candidates for future elections.

The party's leadership, including Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, expressed confidence in the ADC's direction and urged members to remain united and peaceful.
