ADC Candidate Bejid Rejects Ekiti Election Results

Dare Bejid, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State, publicly rejected the results of the recent governorship election, describing the process as lacking credibility and alleging widespread electoral malpractice. Speaking to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, Bejid characterized the atmosphere during the election as intimidating, likening it to a war zone.

He claimed that political appointees mobilized thugs and security personnel to influence the electoral process at polling units, which heightened tensions. Bejid further alleged that votes were bought openly across several polling units, with cash and food items distributed to voters.

He stated that an enormous sum of money was spent to influence the election, asserting that the ruling party should rely on its record rather than attempting to induce voters. Despite rejecting the results, Bejid announced plans to review reports from across the state to determine the next course of action and called on residents to remain calm and peaceful.
