ADC Demands Probe into Physiotherapist's Death in Ebonyi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded an independent investigation into the death of Mari Habila, a physiotherapist, urging Ebonyi State Minister David Umahi to temporarily step aside to ensure transparency. The ADC issued this statement on Wednesday through its National Public Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, emphasizing that the circumstances surrounding Habila's death, which occurred at Umahi's residence, require thorough scrutiny.

The party argues that an independent inquiry is essential to restore public confidence and address unanswered questions regarding the minister's presence at the time of the incident. They also called for a complete autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The ADC criticized the Tinubu administration for allegedly shielding senior government officials from scrutiny and insisted that the public deserves clarity on the matter. Umahi has denied any wrongdoing and stated that there was no attempt to conceal the incident, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
