Police Investigate Physiotherapist's Death in Umahi's Home

The Ebonyi State Police Command is investigating the death of physiotherapist Habila, who died on June 27, 2026, at the residence of David Umahi, a former governor of Ebonyi State. Police spokesman Joshua Ukandu stated that an autopsy is essential to establish the true cause of death due to the sensitive nature of the case.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Habila was brought dead to the Federal Teaching Hospital Uburu by a medical team member. The incident occurred within the compound of Umahi's residence in Umunaga, Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area.

Despite the police's insistence on the necessity of a post-mortem examination, Habila's family has declined to approve the procedure. The family claims they do not want an autopsy performed, while police maintain that the examination is crucial for the ongoing inquiry.

The burial date for Habila has been set for July 17, 2026, at the Deeper Life Bible Church in Nok Jaba Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
