Amaechi Withdraws Lawsuit Against Atiku Over ADC Candidacy

Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State, withdrew his lawsuit against Atiku Abubakar concerning the latter's emergence as the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, struck the suit after Amaechi's lawyer, Jibrin Okutepa, moved a motion to withdraw it, indicating that the parties had settled their differences.

The lawsuit had challenged Abubakar's candidacy, alleging breaches of the Electoral Act 2006 and ADC's guidelines for conducting primary elections. Amaechi sought orders to restrain Abubakar from presenting himself as the presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections and to mandate the ADC to conduct fresh primaries.

The court's decision followed the withdrawal application, marking the end of the legal dispute initiated by Amaechi.
