ADC Youths Demand Probe into Primary Election Irregularities

On Wednesday, the National Youth Wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Comrade Balarabe Rufai, demanded an independent investigation into alleged irregularities in the party's primary elections nationwide. During a press briefing in Abuja, Rufai stated that the youth wing could no longer remain silent regarding allegations that could undermine the party's commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and fairness.

The youth wing has received petitions from aspirants in 23 states, alleging manipulation of candidate nominations and financial inducements. Rufai urged the National Working Committee to establish a review panel to investigate these complaints, warning that failure to address them could damage the ADC's credibility.

He noted that formal petitions had been submitted to the party's Legal Department by both the Appeal Committee and aggrieved aspirants, but no action had been taken. Rufai emphasized that if the allegations are proven true, it would represent a serious violation of the party's constitution.
