Melaye Critiques Tinubu's Governance and Debt Issues

Dino Melaye, a former senator and current member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), held a press conference in Abuja where he expressed concerns about President Bola Tinubu's governance. Melaye asserted that Tinubu does not care about Nigeria's deteriorating state, particularly regarding security issues.

He highlighted the alarming increase in Nigeria's debt profile, noting that under former President Muhammadu Buhari, the country borrowed N87 trillion over eight years without fuel subsidies, while Tinubu has borrowed N167 trillion in just three years. Melaye criticized the administration for awarding N13 billion in infrastructure projects, claiming it is the highest in Africa's history without competitive bidding.

He also accused Tinubu of inappropriate conduct concerning national honors, particularly regarding a Lebanese friend who received a prestigious award. Melaye's remarks reflect a broader concern about the current administration's approach to governance and its implications for Nigeria's future.
