Adebayo Critiques Leadership Absence During Maiduguri Tragedy

Adewale Adebayo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, condemned the absence of Nigeria's leadership during the recent deadly explosions in Maiduguri. In a statement, he accused the government of abandoning its citizens during a time of crisis, describing the situation as a profound failure of governance.

Adebayo highlighted the devastating experiences of residents in the northeastern city, who are left to recount the horror and grief following the tragedy. He pointed out that the federal government has failed in its fundamental responsibility to ensure the safety and security of its people.

Despite the clear mandate for protection from the defense minister, many citizens question the effectiveness of these promises. Adebayo criticized the absence of key national figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief of Defense Staff Christoph Musa, who were noted to be on an official visit in London during this critical time.

He urged Nigerian leaders to return and address the worsening security situation in the country.
