Adeleke Launches Committee for Election Violence Victims

On Monday, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced the formation of a 10-man Committee on Election Violence Victims, aimed at verifying claims from individuals impacted by election-related violence. The committee, chaired by Adewale Egbedun, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, will oversee the distribution of a N500 million Election Violence Victims Relief Endowment Fund provided by the state government.

The committee's members include representatives from civil society, the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Justice, and the Department of State Services (DSS). The committee is tasked with receiving and verifying petitions, determining claimants' eligibility, and recommending appropriate relief to verified victims in line with state guidelines.

Governor Adeleke emphasized the initiative's purpose to support citizens who have suffered losses, injuries, or hardships due to election violence and urged affected individuals to cooperate by providing accurate information for the verification process.
