Adeleke to Launch Inquiry into Osun Election Violence

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced the formation of an independent commission of inquiry to investigate reported cases of extrajudicial killings and violence associated with the recent governorship election. This statement was made in Osogbo by the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi.

Adeleke expressed condolences to families affected by the violence and emphasized that the inquiry would commence immediately after the election. He stated, “Every life lost is an Osun life,” asserting that politics should not result in loss of life, regardless of political affiliation.

The commission will investigate all reported incidents of violence and killings, determine the circumstances surrounding each case, and recommend actions to ensure accountability for those responsible. Additionally, Adeleke's administration plans to establish a support and compensation framework for the victims' families, underscoring the need for justice and a peaceful future for the people of Osun.
