Nigerian-US Forces Eliminate 20 ISWAP Fighters in Borno

On a recent operation, Nigerian troops, in collaboration with the United States Africa Command, successfully eliminated 20 fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during coordinated airstrikes in the general area of Metel, Borno State. The operation was carried out following intelligence reports regarding the movement of terrorist elements in the region.

Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, stated that this military strike is part of sustained operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and preventing insurgents from regrouping. He emphasized the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to defend the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The operation also coincided with the confirmation from U.S. President Donald Trump and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu regarding the killing of ISWAP kingpin Abu Bilal al Minuki during a joint counterterrorism operation.

Trump described the slain militant as a significant figure in global terrorism.
